Mudslide near Collbran: information update

Three individuals are missing. Search and rescue efforts will continue this morning. The Sheriff's Office, the Plateau Valley Fire Department and other County and State agencies are on scene in a unified effort in to search.

The area is remote and without cellular communication. We ask that everyone avoid the area to keep the area clear of any further hazards.

For any media in Mesa County, Sheriff Hilkey will hold an informal news conference at the roadblock at noon today, May 26, 2014. The roadblock is at Salt Creek Road and Highway 330, past the town of Collbram, about 2 miles. Media note: Cell service, data service, etc. is sporadic at best in that area.
