Commissioners to National Park Service: Comments on Prohibition of Transportation

The Mesa County Commissioners learned that Monument Road access has been closed to fuel trucks for Glade Park residents by the United States Department of Interior National Park Service. This was learned after belatedly receiving a copy of the May 1, 2014 'Official 60 day notice' from a constituent and a June 14, 2014 letter addressed to 'Resident of Glade Park.'
In response, the Commissioners prepared a formal comment letter.

"We are opposed to the prohibition as it will cause hardships to our citizens, residents and the economy of the Glade Park area."

The Mesa County Commissioners have requested a meeting with Lisa Eckert, Superintendent, and Mark Davidson, Chief Ranger, to discuss the prohibition.
