Mesa County Commissioners join the Colorado Clean Water Coalition

Mesa County Commissioners join the Colorado Clean Water Coalition  and encourage the continued actions of the group "to preserve clean water for all Coloradoans, and the many visitors who come to Colorado to enjoy its bountiful resources, including our greenways, streams and lakes."

The Commissioners joined this Coalition because "the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), or other agencies’ promulgation of new stormwater regulations have been drafted without considering regional specific climate, geology, water quality concerns, water law, cost-benefit study and other important factors necessary for successful protection of Colorado’s water resources."

The Commissioners "share the CCWC’s concerns that the proposed and promulgated regulations appear to have not considered our existing programs, developed specifically for Colorado and proven to be effective. Advanced regulations have serious implications for the tax-payers and businesses at a time when the many counties are struggling to recover from the recession."
