Mesa County Finance Department Receives Recognition

The Mesa County Finance Department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2013 Fiscal year by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This Certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by the Finance Department leadership and staff. Mesa County has been awarded this honor every year since 1993.

In order to receive this award, the financial reports must meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive 'spirit of full disclosure' to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The Mesa County Finance Department was recognized for this achievement during the Board of County Commissioners' public hearing today, Monday, December 8, 2014.  Frank Whidden, Chief Administrator of Resource Management, accepted the award on behalf of the Finance Department.
