Commissioners to BLM: Comment on Gunnison Sage-Grouse Conservation Measures

Commissioners send comments to BLM as they prepare to conduct an Environmental Impact Statement to incorporate Gunnison Sage-Grouse Conservation Measures into BLM Land Use Plans. This letter encourages support of efforts by numerous entities to collaborate and foster a forum for 'a range-wide perspective on Gunnison Sage-Grouse and their habitat'.

Mesa County thanks and recognizes employees: 102 employees recognized today

Today on the front lawn of the historic Mesa County courthouse, the Board of County Commissioners and County Administrator of Mesa County paid tribute to the dedication of Mesa County employees.

Several employees were especially recognized for their dedicated length of service to Mesa County citizens. Lincoln Crawford and Vicky Audio, both of Public Works, and Shauna Wilson of Human Services were recognized for 30 years of service to Mesa County. Kathy Morgan, of the County Attorney’s Office, Keith Fife of Public Works/Planning and Brian Heath, of the Workforce Center were recognized for 25 years. Employees celebrating anniversaries of 20, 15, 10 and 5 years of service were also recognized in a group ceremony.

Mesa County Commissioners thank all the employees for their service to the citizens of Mesa County.

Mesa County Treasurer Online Tax Lien Sale

The Mesa County Treasurer’s office is announcing that this year’s Online Tax Lien Sale will be November 5, 2014. Register online at, starting August 6, 2014.

Mesa County's auction begins Wednesday, October 15, 2014, and closes Wednesday, November 5, 2014. This gives those interested in participating 21 days to review properties and place their bids. Winners will be determined when the auction officially closes at 2:00 p.m., November 5, 2014.

Grand Valley Off-Road Mountain Bike Event Aug 29-31

Hit the Grand Valley trails this Labor-Day weekend with the Grand Junction Off-Road Mountain Bike Event. Riders will be routed through multiple public trails showcasing the area's diverse riding opportunities and excellent trails.

A portion of the funds raised will benefit the Community Food Bank of Grand Junction.

The Star Spangled Banner Flag Flies over Mesa County Offices

During the month of June, the Star Spangled Banner Flag flies over the Mesa County building at 544 Rood Avenue in honor of Flag Day, June 14th. 

Since today is the first day of school for Mesa County students: Did you know that a 15-Star/15-Stripe flag flew over Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor during the War of 1812 in the Battle of Baltimore when 5,000 British soldiers and a fleet of 19 ships attacked Baltimore on September 12, 1814? During this battle, Francis Scott Key penned portions of what is now known as our National Anthem.
