Mesa County Commissioners' Letters - Week of Sept 22, 2014

The following letters were sent by the Mesa County Board of Commissioners this week to Senator Mark Udall, Senator Michael Bennet and the Honorable Scott Tipton requesting help to develop a funding solution for PILT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) for Fiscal Year 2015 and beyond.

Grand Valley Leadership Academy Kickoff Includes Acclaimed Mountaineer

Jeff Evans, published author and most noteworthy for summiting Mount Everest with blind climber Eric Weihenmayer, has been enticed by the Grand Valley Leadership Academy to speak at their Kickoff on Thursday, October 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at the CMU Ballroom. 

This event is open to the public at no cost. Donations made will benefit CMU's Outdoor Program. Jeff's latest book, MountainVision: Lessons Beyond the Summit, takes the audience on a journey to high peaks around the globe, detailing the meaningful and exciting endeavors of mountaineer and adventurer Jeff Evans. These experiences have allowed Jeff to hone his skills of teamwork, commitment, leadership and handling adversity which he shares in a way that is applicable to everyone in their business and personal lives.

2014 General Election Logic & Accuracy Test

Mesa County Clerk & Recorder, Sheila Reiner, announces the Logic & Accuracy Test for the 2014 General Election.

All Media and the public are invited to witness the testing of voting equipment for the 2014 General Election to be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at 200 S. Spruce Street (Elections Entrance), Grand Junction, Colorado. Please call (970) 244.1662 to reserve your spot. This test is estimated to last approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Colorado National Monument Continues Community Dialogue

Safety issues along the East Hill public right-of-way will be discussed and facilitated at two public meetings by Karen Barbee, Steadfast Communication, LLC:

  • October 8th 6 - 8 p.m. - Two Rivers Convention Center, Grand Junction
