Parks and Wildlife is currently taking comments on options for managing the black bear population.
The Commissioners wrote:
"After reviewing the background information and recognizing the important economic contributions of hunting and wildlife management to Mesa County, we support any management alternative that will significantly:
- Reduce human/bear conflicts and costs for damages incurred to private property
- Decrease CPW staff time for relocations and other 'hands-on' management
- Increase hunting licenses and hunting opportunities."
