Commissioners update economic development partners on federal projects

The Mesa County Commissioners today met with economic development partners including the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce and Grand Junction Economic Partnership.

Topic: federal projects in which Mesa County is engaged.

Mesa County officials updated the economic partners and heard feedback. This was a follow-up meeting to the first, which was held in January.

Among other projects, the county is engaged with:
  • An environmental assessment that looks at transferring land from the Bureau of Land Management to the Grand Junction Regional Airport. The draft is under review now.
  • A Value of Public Lands study being conducted by the BLM and Colorado Mesa University.
  • Gunnison Sage Grouse, Greater Sage Grouse and Yellow-Billed Cuckoo. Mesa County will pay for mapping of proposed critical habitat for the Yellow-Billed Cuckoo.
