Some parts of community experiencing Charter Internet outage

Mesa County Internet Techology staff have been monitoring a Charter Internet outage since about 1:15 this morning.

The outage happened after Charter did maintenance to lines around Colorado Mesa University. The maintenance was not announced to Charter customers beforehand.

The Internet outage is widespread. Affected areas include the Long’s Park area, Fruitvale, Clifton, School District 51’s Career Center, Grand Junction High School, Bookcliff Middle School, Orchard Avenue Elementary and Tope Elementary, as well as some Mesa County government buildings. Those still experiencing outages include the Community Services Building and the Workforce Center.

Charter has told Mesa County officials that they are still working on the issue. They haven’t been able to give Mesa County IT staff an estimated time for service to be restored.
