Commissioners declare June Bike to Work Month and June 28 Bike to Work Day

Mesa County Commissioners proclaim June Bike to Work Month and June 28 Bike to Work Day
The Board of Mesa County Commissioners today proclaimed June 2017 as Bike to Work Month and June 28, 2017, as Bike to Work Day.

Representatives from Mesa County Public Health, Regional Transportation Planning Office, Grand Valley Bikes, and many others were present at the commissioner's public hearing to accept the Bike to Work Month Proclamation.

 As part of a nationwide effort to encourage cycling and since Colorado offers premiere bicycling, the state has designated June as Bike Month to celebrate bicycling for transportation, fun and health.

Over 12 representatives attended public hearing in honor and support of Bike to Work Month and Bike to Work Day.

 In Mesa County, bicycling positively impacts the economy and tourism industry.

Healthy Mesa County
, Grand Valley Bikes and local governments have scheduled activities centered on bicycling throughout June and are promoting bicycling as a healthy leisure activity and an environmentally-friendly mode of transportation.
