Dump the Pump Day June 15

In these tough economic times with high gas prices, everyone is looking for a way to save money. National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation (instead of driving) and save money. The latest American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Transit Savings Report shows that a two person household living with one less car can save, on average, more than $9,700 a year.

“When my wife, kids, and I moved to Grand Junction, we needed to make some cuts in our family
budget. The availability of GVT close to work and home made it possible to transition to a single vehicle, which allows us to make ends meet and have some extra money to enjoy our new life here,” says passenger Daniel Larkin.

Join Grand Valley Transit (GVT) and other public transit agencies across the nation for Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 15, 2017, and discover the many benefits of leaving your car behind and riding public transportation. By choosing public transit, you can save money, conserve gasoline, and make the air we breathe cleaner, all while relaxing in the passenger seat. Calculate your gas savings using the public transportation fuel savings calculator found at www.publictransportation.org.

Not sure how to ride GVT? Go to gvt.mesacounty.us and use the Trip Planner tool. Also, Google Maps have a "Transit" option when asking for directions. Both ways will make it easy to use GVT for your next trip.
